Does anyone else appreciate the sound at the very beginning? In ancient times, this noise signaled a telephone being “off the hook”….this is a metaphor for the angst-inducing “disconnection” between the man and his object of desire.
BTW…..what make and model is the car?
Man – Thanks for taking me back to 1982. I remember getting a pair of wraparound Ray Ban Sunglasses and swearing they were the same ones this guy is wearing. Now I can see they weren’t. But they were called girl-watchers, and they worked great for that. Just keep your head straight, and let your eyes wonder.
dawn I was like five when this commercialcame out but I remember it and the psychedelia of the 70’s. Alot of thess commercial directors went on to make music videos during the 80’s. Personally, as a kid, it was a strange transition going from the hippy side of the 70’s to the disco / punk side of the 70’s. I thought the world lost its mind. Well, at least we had CHIPS.

Its like some marketing guys research concluded that the three hot words at that time were: Bonjour, Action & Jeans. This was the resulting commercial.
Wow, I’m 38 now and have not seen this since i was a kid(like a lot of you) This was one of my Favorite commercials as a kid, because it was sooo Futuristic (for the time) and Abstract.
