A history of Joe’s Jeans must begin with the man behind the line, Joe Dahan. The line of clothing naturally unfolds as we try to understand as much as we can about the out-of-the-limelight designer. But how much information can we divulge about the man who prefers to remain behind the Jean’s and let each pair of denim speak for itself?

Growing up in Morocco and Southern California has given the designer his eye for natural beauty as well as beauty of women, which is undoubtedly reflected in the Joe’s Womens Jeans line.

Prior to the Joe’s Jean’s line there was Joe The Hun in 1998 and later his Tops line. Both companies saw success but Dahan decided to do three years with the denim giant Azteca Productions, assisting in their Development Division. Here he learned the denim world inside and out while making innovative preparations for big name companies.

It was not until 2001 that he finally released his own denim line and the real success he was always poised for came about. His laid-back California attitude is surprisingly hard to find in his innovative designs. What does come out in his personality however, is his refusal to stick with any norm. The Joes womens jeans never seemed compromised and that is one trait that seems to resonate in all designers. A refusal to compromise their designs is a trust in their ideas.

This company went from a standard fit in its first year to nine designs to match the personality and body of every woman who wears them. And yet these are still considered the basics! These range from the socialite to the twiggy. The socialite is a classic fit that can work equally well in a party atmosphere or upscale dinner while the twiggy, a supermodel fit, is humorously named simply for those long-limbed slim fitting types. There’s even the honey, a booty fit, for all those voluptuous and curvy women that fill out the true female physique.

The company has since spread its denim reaches with additions like the new Premium Line which is its own couture denim. The premium line features distressed denim, hand stitching and embroidery for their A-List fans.

Whatever catches your eye from this company is sure to be sexy, sophisticated and unabashed. The man behind the line likes to stay low-key and that may be because he channels all his creative and eccentric energy into the pants he loves, leaving little for himself.

Skinny leg jeans are in the list of the fashion must-haves nowadays. It is mostly used by models and celebrities that we see on TV and fashion magazines. Undeniably, these jeans look great on them. However, not many people are blessed with slender figures right?

So, can the-not-so sexy make use of this runway addition? Fashion experts say that most women can, provided that they follow the following techniques. These tips can help women in using and making the most of the slimming effect provided by skinny jeans.

? If you are not very skimpy and slender but you definitely want to make use of the virtually “slimming” effect provided by the use of skinny jeans, then consider those pairs with dark colors. For the best slimming effect possible, you ought to use those which come in dark blue or black wash. This is definitely suitable for women who have huge waistlines or thighs since dark color skinny jeans can conceal the excesses.

? If you plan to wear skinny jeans just for the sake of getting that slimming effect on your legs and upper body, use other types of jeans instead of the skin-tight jeans. You can choose from a wide variety of choices – from the super skinny ones to the straight leg cuts. These types will have leg openings that will vary from 10 inches to 14. Choose that which you are best comfortable with. Do not forget that comfort should not be thoroughly compromised for the sake of fashion. You can be fashionable but comfortable with your look at the same time.

? When wearing a pair of skinny jeans, make sure that your top outfit perfectly fits the slimming effects that the jeans provide. The volume of the upper body part should be emphasized but not to an excessive extent. If you are petite, consider wearing bell-sleeve tops, tunics and those which have dolman sleeves. However, if you have floppy and wide shoulders, consider a top that will conceal the “overload”.

? Bear in mind that wearing skinny jeans is not enough to conceal heavy thighs. Bulges will likely appear and such can look very unappealing. To disguise such, you can opt to wear long tops. Long tunics are often recommended by stylists. However, long tops should always be paired with elegant belts. The thickness of the belt largely depends on the torso length and the overall height of the person.

? Another common problem with skinny jeans is the apparent emphasis given on thick calves. If you have heavy thighs, you likely have chunky calves as well. If such is the case, then you can try to conceal these features by tucking the jeans into tall boots. The use of boots will hide the bulk and provide an extensive slimming effect that extends to your calves.

? If you are not that tall, or if you are a bit chubby, then consider wearing high heeled shoes or sandals with your skinny jeans. This will not only enhance the slimming effect. Rather, such will also provide a leg-lengthening effect. In case high-heeled shoes do not fit the occasion, one can also try pointy-toed but flat ones.

Women’s fashion can be so expensive. Tops, skirts, coats, shoes and accessories – if someone told you what you’d paid for the contents of your wardrobe, you’d probably have a heart attack. And imagine what your accountant would say! It’s lucky that there’s one piece of affordable apparel that needn’t cost much, that lasts forever, and that never seems to go out of style: the humble pair of jeans. From brunches to lunches, dates to days away, jeans are comfortable, stylish, and go with almost anything. They can be dressed up or down, and (for some jobs) they can even be appropriate work wear.

While jeans have been an enduring affordable apparel fashion favorite for men and women alike since the 1950s, one thing that does change is the popular fit of the day. Like skirt lengths, tie widths, and lapels, every few years there is a seismic shift in the world of jeans to a new favorite fit. Here we present three of the best and most popular fits of the past ten years:

#1 Affordable apparel: Boot-cut jeans

Boot-cut jeans are cut to fit closely around the hips and thighs, but flare out from the knee down. Originally of course, this cut was invented to accommodate the wearer’s (cowboy) boots, as the name implies. But recent times have seen them worn more often with grungy or retro sneakers, such as Adidas or Converse.

Boot-cut was the fit of choice from princesses to paupers in the early ‘noughties’, and every denim designed jumped on board. One reason for their popularity among women is that they’re flattering to almost any body shape, including those who are not so long-legged. Many of us were very sad to see them go!

#2 Affordable apparel: Skinny-leg jeans

First popularized by stars and fashion luminaries such as Sienna Miller, skinny-leg jeans have been hot hot hot for a good few years now. Skinny-leg jeans fit tightly all over, and they are often cut low in the waist as well.

Interestingly enough, it is actually skinny-leg, and not boot-cut jeans that look best with boots, though of course with the boots worn over rather than under the jeans. We think a high riding boot in tan or chocolate looks best.

Unfortunately for those of not blessed with Ms Miller’s behind, skinny-leg jeans are highly revealing of a less-then-perfect lower half, so as fashionable as they are, they are perhaps best avoided by some.

#3 Affordable apparel: ‘The Carrot’

Of the three entrants on our list, the fit known only as The Carrot is by far the most recent. Inspired by underground Tokyo fashion, they have a cut that is generous in the seat and thighs, and narrows only towards the ankle. Currently in vogue, but not yet adopted wholesale by the fashion-buying masses, will carrot jeans become the new #1 in jeans?  Only time will tell, but we advise you to watch this space!
